CD REVIEW

“Vortex” by Jason Stewart 2007

This latest outing from musician extraordinaire, Jason Stewart, is adventurous and quite interesting. He gets down and dirty with his shred/groove metal, as always, but peppers this CD with flowing, melancholic impressions, as well. A study in time signatures like 15 ‘till 8 (starts in 15/8, switches to 7/4, then 2/4, then back again) this CD is definitely different…in a good way. Stewart never loses his focus on cool, listenable melodies, he just likes to, if at all possible, stretch the imagination of the listener, if they are so inclined. Check out this CD today. You will not be disappointed.
