THRESH II
VEXED
The movie opens with Victoria standing alone in a secluded forest. She is in the middle of a downpour and her dress is soaking wet. The clouds are dark and you can hear thunder rumbling. It’s definitely a serious storm. Victoria is staring down at a spot on the ground where the dirt seems to have been misplaced as though there is something buried there. There is. The camera pulls in on Victoria’s eyes. She is thinking about her dead parents and her dead grandparents and is trying with all her might to control her rage. She narrates the beginning of the movie.
VICTORIA
That’s me. I had no idea it was going to rain
today, especially like this. I come to this spot
from time to time when I think about all the
dead people in my life. My parent’s, my
grandparents, friends, all the people I’ve put to
rest, too many to count. I come here for reassurance
that maybe there is still a little justice left in the
world and that maybe one day we’ll conquer evil,
altogether. There is a reason I come to this particular
spot to think. This is where I buried Adam. Well,
technically, this is where I buried his head. It’s
probably just a skull, by now. It’s been a year. Here’s
to you, Adam. Every day your head rots is another
day of hope for me. Happy Birthday, Dead Head.
She giggles a little and turns and walks away.
(Opening credits and music)
CUT TO:
Victoria has suddenly fallen into a deep depression after a year of love and great fun with Aaron (boyfriend) and Tai (adopted son). Everyone is concerned and no one knows what to do. O Headquarters still has her on the payroll and is paying for professional therapy for her. They feel that they owe it to her but they do have the ulterior motive of getting her back in the program. She was, bar none, the most successful assassin killer they ever had. They have once again fallen behind the criminals and would welcome her return.
Victoria is talking to the therapist in her office during one of their sessions.
ILAH (Therapist)
I think we’ve made some progress, Victoria.
We should continue.
VICTORIA
I don’t know. I can’t seem to care about anything,
lately. What do you think that means?
ILAH
What do you think it means?
VICTORIA
Who are you, Socrates? Why do you always
answer a question with a question? What is it
with you quacks, anyway? I ask you what you
think something means and you ask me the same
question back. You blew a hundred grand and four
years of college for that? I may be rich but I’m not
into throwing money out the window. Why don’t I
just spare us both the trouble and go be the client
and therapist in the mirror at home? At least then I
would know the person looking back at me knew
what the hell they were talking about.
The therapist just stares at her patiently.
VICTORIA
(Sighs heavily). God, I’m sorry. I can’t seem to
control my emotions, anymore. I’m scared. I don’t
want to accidentally hurt anyone I love.
ILAH
I don’t think you need to worry about that,
Victoria. I don’t see any signs of mental instability.
You just seem to be frustrated by something. What
it may be, only you could know and I wouldn’t
presume to transfer myself onto you. I think you
should look really deep and try to find the source of
this chaos. If you don’t find it, in the long run it could
eat you alive and you may not be able to recover from it.
Victoria looks at Ilah. Her eyes are blank but she nods her head slightly.
VICTORIA
Yhea…I think maybe I need some space…some time
to think things through for a while.
ILAH
I think that’s an excellent idea. I know of a great
spa and resort that would cater perfectly to your
needs. Let me check my…ahhh, here it is. This
place works wonders. I love it there.
She hands Victoria the card. Victoria takes it and gets up to leave.
ILAH
We still have twenty minutes if you want to talk.
VICTORIA
No. That’s okay. I think I’ll just go. Seeya, Ilah.
ILAH
Okay, Victoria. Please let me know when you’re
going so we can pick up where we left off when
you come back.
Victoria makes a muted noise and leaves. Ilah looks at the door with worry in her eyes.
CUT TO:
Victoria, outside Ilah’s door, throws the brochure in the trash and says, "Yhea, right".
FADE TO:
(O Headquarter – O H.Q.)
Victoria is sitting down with Eric and Simon with a calm smile on her face. They are having a conversation about her future with O.
VICTORIA
It’s funny, even though I’m thrilled with my
home life I’ve been feeling like there was
something missing for a while, now. I couldn’t
figure it out and I certainly didn’t think it was
coming back into the organization. But, I have
to admit…I miss the thrill of it and pushing my
limits and…
SIMON
What?
VICTORIA
Well, bringing down the bad guys, of course.
That’s what really does it for me.
Both Simon and Eric look at each other.
FADE TO:
(Flashback to when she was first recruited)
It is around ten in the morning and Victoria is talking to her friend Jan on her phone and walking to a store to shop for clothes. As she is walking through the parking lot, she spots a family and a little girl who’s jumping up and down and hooting and hollering. The strange thing is that the girl is wearing some kind of silver suit and she keeps looking up at the sun. Then it hits Victoria. She says:
VICTORIA
Oh, wow.
JAN
What?
VICTORIA
Oh, there’s this little girl that’s wearing this strange
space suit looking thing and I just realized why she’s
wearing it.
JAN
Why?
VICTORIA
I saw this news report about this condition that
some people are born with. Their bodies can’t
photosynthesize light very well so they have to
stay out of the sun. They can’t even be in normal
light. They have to stay inside all the time. They
can never leave their house. The suit must protect
her from the light. The little girl is jumping up and
down like it’s the first time she’s ever seen the sun!
JAN
Wow, that is amazing. Are you okay?
VICTORIA
I’m fine, it just made me a little sad, that’s all.
Victoria wipes away a tear and then moves on.
VICTORIA
Anyway, I’m about to do some serious shopping
so I will talk to you later.
JAN
Okay, bye.
They both hang up. As Victoria is about to enter the store a woman approaches her.
JULIA
Hi, are you Victoria Vienetta?
Victoria looks a little uneasy.
VICTORIA
Yes.
JULIA
My name is Julia.
She puts out her hand and Victoria shakes it.
JULIA
I wondered if you had a moment to talk?
VICTORIA
Are you selling something?
JULIA
No, no. The company I work for has expressed
an interest in your possible employment.
VICTORIA
Really? That’s weird. I barely even know how to type.
JULIA
Oh, there won’t be any typing involved.
Victoria tilts her head, curiously.
JULIA
So, can we talk?
VICTORIA
Sure, why not? Let’s go to the food court.
JULIA
Great.
CUT TO:
Victoria is listening intently to Julia. Her eyes are incredulous but intense.
VICTORIA
But, why me?
JULIA
Many reasons. You have no family ties, you have
no need for money and, from what we can tell,
you’re smart, independent and in incredible shape.
VICTORIA
Oh, well thank you. I have a gym in my house. I’m
pretty fanatical about keeping in shape. So, I
understand the premise but what would I be doing,
exactly?
JULIA
I’ll let Eric explain that to you. So, are you interested?
VICTORIA
Well, I’m intrigued, that’s for sure.
JULIA
Great. Let’s set an appointment for tomorrow.
Is noon okay?
VICTORIA
Uhh, yhea, that would be fine.
JULIA
Excellent. It was a pleasure meeting you, Victoria.
VICTORIA
Oh, yhea, you to.
Julia walks off briskly, leaving Victoria staring at the back of her head in wonder.
FADE TO
(Back to the present)
ERIC
Victoria, are you absolutely sure you want to
come back into the fold?
VICTORIA
Yes. Absolutely.
SIMON
We would have to start you off slowly, Victoria,
to be sure.
VICTORIA
I understand.
ERIC
And you would be monitored every step of the
way, even have someone with you, perhaps.
VICTORIA
If you think they can keep up, I have no problem
with that.
Simon and Eric smile at each other. There’s that attitude they loved to see in her.
FADE TO:
(Flashback)
Victoria is taking her IQ test and is being monitored by Eric and Simon, although she is not aware of this. Her actions during the test are unusual and they discuss it.
ERIC
What is she doing?
SIMON
What do you mean?
ERIC
Look. She’s pausing. It almost seems like
she doing it on purpose.
SIMON
Hmm, that is a little odd.
ERIC
She was flying through the test, off the page a
minute ago and now she’s…I don’t know.
SIMON
Oh, wow.
ERIC
What?
SIMON
It’s just a theory but I think she’s doing it on purpose.
We’ve already verified that she has scored a 157 but
now she’s purposely slowing down because she knows
it will taint the results. She’s purposely trying to seem
less brilliant than she actually is. This is a tried and
true technique for surprise. If your enemies
underestimate you than it just makes it that much
easier for you to defeat them. God, that’s brilliant.
ERIC
Are you sure?
SIMON
No, of course not, hell, I only scored a 140 but she is
doing something. The only advantage we have is that
she doesn’t realize she’s being monitored.
ERIC
Or does she?
SIMON
Oh, shut up, now you’re freaking me out. Anyway….
wow. I think we found a keeper.
ERIC
Yes, I would have to agree.
They both look at each other and smile.
FADE TO:
(Present)
SIMON
Alright, Victoria, we’ll put you through some
tests to see if you’re still in shape for the
assignments, you look like you are. Do you
still have the suit?
They allowed her to keep it out of respect for her duty to them.
VICTORIA
Of course, it’s sealed in perfect condition.
It hasn’t been touched.
SIMON
Okay, we’ll still have to test it, though. We still
need to talk about your home situation.
VICTORIA
You mean, can you trust Aaron?
Simon nods.
VICTORIA
Absolutely. He already knows everything and
he would never betray me, anyway. I think he’s
a little afraid of me but I keep him happy.
ERIC
What about the boy?
VICTORIA
His name is Tai, Eric. And you don’t have to
worry about him, the only thing he will know
for years is that mommy works a lot.
SIMON
Okay. Go tell them what you need to and when
you’re ready we’ll run you through some tests.
How long do you need?
VICTORIA
I’ll be ready tomorrow.
SIMON
Are you sure?
VICTORIA
Absolutely.
SIMON
Okay, we’ll see you around…(looking at Eric)
ERIC
Ten.
VICTORIA
Ten it is. Thanks guys, you won’t regret it.
Heck, this is gonna be fun.
She walks out of the room and they both look at each other and calmly nod their heads.
CUT TO:
Victoria is going through a Karate/Judo/Ninjitsu/Jeet Kun Do routine that she arranged herself in her personalized gym she renovated in her house. She is sweating and working out hard.
VICTORIA
Hahhh! Shaa! Nuuuaaw! (other jibberish)
Aaron comes home and hears her in the gym. He walks in to greet her.
AARON
Hey, babe.
VICTORIA
Aaron. Stand back a minute. Let me just finish this.
She does a flying kick into a large punching bag and screams.
AARON
Wow. Man, no wonder they hired you. I bet that
works great on chicks, huh?
VICTORIA
Very funny.
AARON
No, seriously, I mean, you don’t really take on
guys that can do that, do you?
She only stares at him with a blasé look on her face.
AARON
You do? Show me something.
VICTORIA
Not a good idea, Aaron.
AARON
C’mon, you’re not afraid are you? See, if you
had to do that stuff on a guy you would…
Before he can finish his sentence she covers the distance to where he is standing, drops him with a sweep kick and lands on him with her body weight and her elbow resting just on his Adam’s apple.
VICTORIA
If this had been real your windpipe would be
crushed and if you didn’t actually suffocate you
would never be able to speak again. And if that
didn’t work the very next hit would be a powerful
blow to your chest that would immediately stop
your heart in its tracks. Three moves and there is no
possibility of your survival. Choose your next words
very carefully, my darling.
AARON
Oww, point taken. AND I stand corrected. I think I’m
getting aroused.
VICTORIA
Yhea, well take care of it yourself, I’m a little busy.
AARON
I was just kidding. What are you doing tonight?
Victoria stares at him with no answer.
AARON
Uh, oh. What?
VICTORIA
I’m kind of wound up hanging around here all day,
Aaron. I’ve decided to work for O again.
AARON
Victoria….I mean….are you sure this is what you want?
VICTORIA
Yes. It’s become such a big part of my life, now.
I know it’s dangerous but you just have to trust that
I can handle myself.
AARON
Yes, I can see that but…
VICTORIA
I’m sorry, Aaron, the decision has already been made.
I’m going in for some tests, tomorrow.
AARON
Tomorrow?
She nods.
AARON
I’m just…I just wish you could have told me, first.
VICTORIA
I’m sorry. I’m going to need to get some sleep
tonight so I have to wrap it up, here.
Aaron looks a little angry but says nothing at first.
AARON
Are you taking the suit?
VICTORIA
Yhea, why?
AARON
Can I see it on you? I’ve never seen it.
Victoria rolls her eyes
VICTORIA
Okay, c’mon.
CUT TO:
The lights are out and you can hear Victoria and Aaron talking.
AARON
Why did you turn the lights out?
VICTORIA
I want it to be a surprise. Okay. Are you ready?
AARON
Sure, but I still don’t see why…
The suit flashes on is sheer red luminescence, outlined in black. Her eyes and teeth are huge and fearsome. The tendrils in her face move like snakes in the air. She lets out a horrible shriek. Aaron, along with the audience, is scared out of their wits by the surprise of it. Then, just like that, THRESH disappears and you can no longer see her. You can only hear Aaron panting. Victoria turns on the light and her mask is off.
VICTORIA
Did I surprise you? Are you okay?
Aaron’s eyes are saucer plates but he is smiling and breathing hard.
VICTORIA
I’m sorry, poor baby.
She goes over to him and hugs him as she is laughing.
AARON
What was that?
VICTORIA
It’s for surprise, like I said. It catches the bad guys
off guard so I can kick their butts.
AARON
Wow, yhea, I could see how that would work.
VICTORIA
It does. So, how ‘bout we eat something and then
I gotta go to bed. You can sleep here if you want
but no hanky panky. I’ll be getting up around six a.m.
AARON
No, let’s just eat. I gotta get to work early today, too.
VICTORIA
Okay.
CUT TO:
(O H.Q.)
THRESH is having her agility, strength and endurance skills tested. She is in an elaborate maze set up by O. The lights randomly come on and off and as she goes through the maze she has no idea what she will face next. People come at her from ahead, behind and even above. Traps open, things are shot at her and the temperature and weather constantly change and shift. The test is an hour long and quite grueling. She gets through it with little problem. When the test is done, she pulls off her mask and is sweaty but smiling.
VICTORIA
Not bad, I can see you guys upped the difficulty
on this puppy.
Simon and Eric are in a control room and looking at her through the window.
SIMON
Excellent, Victoria, you haven’t dropped a step.
You may be even faster.
VICTORIA
I’ve been putting in some extra time in my gym
at home to keep from going crazy. So…are we
ready to go, or what?
CUT TO:
Simon, Eric, Victoria and another female are in Simon’s office, discussing the next assignment.
SIMON
Victoria, this is Michelle. She prefers to be referred to
only by one name for anonymity, you understand.
She is going to be pairing up with you on this mission.
The two shake hands and greet each other. Michelle is an attractive blonde who is obviously in great physical shape.
SIMON
Michelle has been with us for about a year, now. It’s
about time she went out into the field and we want
you to show her the ropes. She shows incredible
potential. In fact, her test scores are almost as high
as yours.
VICTORIA
Really?
Victoria looks impressed and looks at Michelle. Michelle smiles and looks a little embarrassed.
ERIC
You will be the lead, of course, Victoria, but make
sure we don’t lose Michelle. We need her.
VICTORIA
Of course. So….what’s the assignment?
FADE TO:
The scene is a hot desert night in the middle east. As you show the two, THRESH and Michelle, quietly walking through a city late at night, Simon’s voice narrates exactly what their mission is.
SIMON (Narration)
You will be given the location of a major player
in an extremely dangerous terrorist group that has
struck the U.S., England, Japan, Australia, Egypt
and Mexico. They seem to have no particular
affiliation and strike randomly around the globe.
Their strikes always incur high casualties and
fatalities. We have noticed a connection between
all of the strikes mentioned that the no one else has,
yet. The man you seek is not at the head of the group
but it has been established that he is just as important
in planning the attacks. He will have to do, for now.
This is a very difficult area to go unnoticed in so you
will need to be as cautious and stealthy as possible.
There will be many terrorists in the area so collateral
damage is acceptable but the Target must be taken out
first. And, for God’s sake, don’t get yourselves killed.
If you get the target and confirm the kill, get the hell
out of there as fast as you can.
THRESH and Michelle get within visual sight of the building they are looking for and scan it for guards and cameras. They are standing about 50 feet apart. THRESH is using a unique sign language created by O to tell Michelle to keep an eye on the surrounding area in case they are spotted. THRESH scans the building. There are only five guards. Three on the roof and two in front of the building. There is only one way into the building and that is through the front. The guards all have AK47s and look very alert. Sniping them will call too much attention to the scene. They need to get in and out fast. She signs for Michelle to follow her lead. She quickly and silently moved toward the back of the building. She presses a code on her thigh panel and unlocks a pocket. She pulls out what look like two small bean bags. She throws one up on the roof and one towards the front of the building. The two bags silently release an extremely potent and fast working sedative. She signs for Michelle to use her breathe filter for as long as needed. She hears one of the men on the roof fall to the ground, unconscious. She immediately goes to the front of the building and easily disarms the two guards who are very disoriented. One punch to one guard and a kick to the other and they’re both out. She drags both the bodies around the corner of the building and hides them in the bushes. There is a commotion on the roof as they tend to the guard that has fallen down. She climbs quickly up the back of the building with the nylon cord that releases from her belt and has a grappling hook on the end. When she is on top of the building she sees one guard completely out, one is very disoriented and one is tending to the one on the ground. She quickly covers the distance between them and easily knocks out the one who is disoriented. The one tending to the guard on the ground is still alert. She doesn’t expect him to get in a good kick to her knee, nearly hyper extending it, backwards. He is using some unique type of Afghani fighting style that she is not familiar with. The pain sends her into a rage. She dive tackles him, head first into his sternum, which knocks the breath out of him. He drops his weapon. She head butts him and he is nearly unconscious, but she does not stop. She starts pummeling him with her fists over and over. As she is about to hit him again, Michelle grabs her arm and says:
MICHELLE
THRESH, that’s enough, he’s unconscious.
THRESH pauses and looks around, breathing heavily.
THRESH
Right. Okay, let’s get inside and finish this before
these guys wake up.
When they get inside there are no bright lights on but there is enough dim light to see. It looks as though everyone is asleep. They approach the main bedroom cautiously. There is one guard in front of it. He looks bored and half asleep. THRESH watches him closely. He is nodding off a bit. She inches closer. The third time he nods off a bit she sidles up to him, wraps her hand around his mouth, slides around behind him and breaks his neck. It wasn’t necessary and Michelle is a little surprised by the violence. THRESH holds her finger up to her mouth. She reaches behind her back and pulls out her Samurai Sword. She opens the bedroom door and slips in and closes the door. Michelle waits in the hall. The camera cuts to THRESH walking toward the sleeping target. She stands by his bedside and stares at him for a while. The camera shows a close up on her and she bends over the bed and does something quickly. Then the camera zooms out and she positions her sword above his sternum.
THRESH
Hey, Amali. Amaaaaaliii. Wake up, sleepy head.
Amali’s eyes open slowly. He feels a warm sensation on his neck and chest. He looks down to see blood flowing copiously down his chest. He is disoriented and starts to feel the pain in his throat. When he finally sees THRESH standing by the bed, his eyes open wide with fear.
THRESH
Peeka-Boo you murdering bastard.
She thrust the sword into his torso but the camera cuts to Michelle looking through the glass pane in the door. She can see the shadow of the sword thrusting downward and a horrible muted scream that is muffled due to his slit throat. She sees THRESH pull out the sword. He is still alive. Michelle is horrified by the act. She runs into the room.
MICHELLE
THRESH, you have to…
THRESH
Stand back! Don’t interfere. He deserves this.
MICHELLE
No one deserves this! Either finish him or I will.
Amali is writhing in agony in a pool of his own blood.
THRESH just looks at Michelle for a few seconds. Then, she pushes a button and a white hot laser with a green glow comes out of her suit near her wrist. She leans over and says to him:
THRESH
It seems you have a guardian angel, Amali.
Nighty night.
She jams the light blade into Amali’s temple and he immediately goes silent.
MICHELLE
What the hell was that?
THRESH
It’s a laser that overloads the neuropath ways of
the brain. His brain is fried. He’s dead and our job
is done. Let’s go.
FADE TO:
(O H.Q.)
Victoria is in a serious conversation about her approach on the last assignment. Michelle has given Simon and Eric all the details and they are concerned.
SIMON
Victoria, this was overboard. It wasn’t necessary
to make him suffer like that.
ERIC
It appears unstable, Victoria. We can’t have it, it’s
too dangerous to the organization.
Victoria is just eyeballing the two of them. She does not appear to be in a very good mood, at all. She looks mean.
ERIC
You can’t just sit there silent, Victoria. What the
hell happened?
VICTORIA
I got the job done.
ERIC
Yes, but your methods are questionable.
VICTORIA
Not to me.
ERIC
O isn’t just about you, Victoria. We are just
tools for the ideal. We have to try to maintain
a certain level of dignity and honor.
VICTORIA
Since when does murdering murderers have anything
to do with dignity and honor?
ERIC
You know what I mean, Victoria, we have to…
VICTORIA
You sit here, comfortable in your lounge chair and
talk to me about dignity and honor when I’m the one
out there taking people’s lives so that O can look good
on paper. When was the last or first time you ever killed
anyone, Eric?
ERIC
I won’t be pulled into this argument, Victoria, I have a job
to do and…
Victoria stands up quickly and Simon jumps a bit. The tension in the room skyrockets.
VICTORIA
Do you have any idea what it’s like to take
someone’s life, Eric? Do you think it makes
me feel good to take a life, regardless of their
morality?
ERIC
Hey, you signed up for this, Victoria. You said
you enjoyed taking down the bad guys.
VICTORIA
Taking down the bad guys is one thing. Killing is
entirely another.
ERIC
I don’t know what you expect me to say, Victoria.
VICTORIA
Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I expect you to keep
your fucking mouth shut about dignity and honor
when I’m the one burying the bodies, asshole.
ERIC
I won’t stand for this bullshit. You’ve pushed too many
limits, now. I’m downgrading your rank in the chain of
command. You no longer…
VICTORIA
Oh, shut up you brainless twit.
Eric takes a step towards Victoria in a posturing manner.
ERIC
I will not be spoken to this way. I am second in
command and…
THRESH
Shut up!
Eric moves another step towards her and triggers her rage. She steps into his instep, crouches a bit and throws her body weight into an uppercut that knocks Eric about ten feet back. His head bounces off the floor and he lies there a minute. Everyone in the room is in shock, including THRESH. She cannot believe what she just did. She looks over at Simon who is slowly sliding his hand under his desk, presumably to press an alarm or to get a gun.
THRESH
Wait, Simon. I…uh….I….I’m sorry. I don’t know
what came over me. I have no idea why I did that.
It was like I was someone else. Eric, I’m sorry, I
really am.
Eric just looks up at her, holding his jaw and saying nothing.
SIMON
Sit down, Victoria. We must gain control of this
situation. Sit down. Please.
Victoria sits down and stares at the floor.
SIMON
Are you alright, Eric?
ERIC
I’ll live.
SIMON
Okay. Victoria, I’m deeply troubled, here. We
started you off on a relatively simple mission
and you had trouble controlling your rage. You
were being monitored and you still couldn’t
control it. Now, after what you’ve done to Eric
I’m afraid I’m going to have to reconsider your
employment with O.
VICTORIA
No, Simon, I just…overreacted, I don’t….I don’t
know what happened.
SIMON
Regardless, this cannot continue, Victoria, and I
care too much about you just to cut you loose.
VICTORIA
What are you saying?
Two heavily armed guards come in and barricade the door. Victoria looks at them and then back at Simon.
VICTORIA
Simon?
SIMON
We had concerns about your psyche profile from
the beginning, Victoria, but we ignored it because
of your phenomenal ability. The time has come to
address this issue. We cannot allow you back into
civilian life until we are sure that you are not a threat
to O or to yourself or to anyone else. This has been a
long time in the coming, Victoria. You’ve been given
chance after chance and you always push the envelope.
I have made up my mind on this so there will be no
argument. I would like to admit you into our psyche
facility so that we can evaluate you and see if we can
get to the root of your instability. You can go voluntarily
or involuntarily.
VICTORIA
Do I have a choice?
Simon shakes his head, slowly. NO.
Victoria thinks a minute and then starts nodding her head.
VICTORIA
I’ll go. I scared myself and I want to find out why.
SIMON
Good. I’m glad. Don’t worry, it’s not a prison. You
will have access to the gym, you can eat whatever you
wish and spend your off time anyway you please. But
you must submit to daily testing and whatever the
doctors ask of you. They are the best so you need not
worry about their competence. Just let them do their job.
VICTORIA
How long?
SIMON
That probably depends mostly on you, Victoria. The
sooner you get better, the sooner you get out.
VICTORIA
What do I tell Aaron?
SIMON
Tell him the truth. Just make sure he doesn’t see us as a
threat to you. We can’t have him out there trying to make
our existence known to the world.
VICTORIA
I understand. So, how do we do this?
SIMON
It has to be done, now. Make your calls and we go
straight to the facility from here.
The camera shows a close up of Victoria’s face and then the background changes but it is still the same close up on her face. The door is closing and you can still see her face through the window in the door. The door slams and the camera zooms out fast and goes black.
CUT TO:
(O H.C.)
Eric and Simon are discussing Victoria’s condition in Simon’s office. It is dark outside.
ERIC
You did the right thing, Simon.
SIMON
Did I?
ERIC
Absolutely. We have to know what’s wrong with her.
You didn’t betray her, you’re helping her.
SIMON
I hope you’re right.
ERIC
Do you think it was THRESH 7?
SIMON
What?
ERIC
That made her…lose it a little.
Simon thinks a second and then nods.
ERIC
She seemed a little…different after that one,
don’t you think?
SIMON
Yes, you’re right. She never spoke of that mission
to anyone, did she?
ERIC
Not that I know of.
SIMON
I wonder what happened.
They both look nervous and worried.

The mission in question, THRESH 7. THRESH has made her way into a major drug cartel stronghold and is, as of yet, undetected. She is deep in the jungle of the Yucatan Peninsula. The scene starts as she is calmly walking up to the bed of the cartel leader, Hector Olivera. He is barely visible in the darkness. He is sleeping soundly. THRESH reaches into a pouch on her right hip and pulls out a syringe and a chemical of some kind. She fills the syringe, flicks it, and smoothly injects it into Hector’s neck. He barely moves at all. She drops the syringe and waits a minute. His eyelids start to flutter a little and his breathing slows down and becomes shallow. She climbs on top of him and he opens his eyes. His eyes swim out of focus and he cannot fight her. She brings her face close to his and the tendrils that protrude from her face take on a life of their own. Each one lights up in pinkish white, especially at the tips, and starts waving in the air. Each one starts to touch his face and head in different places as his eyes grow wide with fear.
THRESH
Kinda freaky, huh? Yhea, it’s amazing what
we’ve discovered about tapping into the human
brain. Your body is paralyzed but I know you can
hear me, Hector. I need some information that I doubt
you’d part with, willingly. Bear with me, Hector, this
will all be over, very soon.
As the tendrils lock in she closes her eyes and starts seeing things. Horrible images of his deeds flash through her head. He has decapitated innocent people and laughed about it. Anyone who has gotten in his way has been ruthlessly slaughtered. She mentally remembers a few key faces and locations, then releases the tendrils and opens her eyes. She looks at him.
THRESH
May God have mercy on your soul, Hector.
His eyes open wide as she raises her open palm high over his chest. She makes a noise in her throat and comes down with all of her power in the center of his chest. Hector’s body spasms, locks up and then exhales. His heart has been stopped. He is no more. His eyes are slightly open and rolled up into his skull. Suddenly, an alarm goes off and THRESH panics.
THRESH
(under her breath) Why would an alarm go off
after his heart sto…His heart must be monitored.
She rips open his shirt and, sure enough, there are five electrodes attached to his chest and belly. She immediately rips them all off but the alarm continues.
THRESH
The alarm must be sent to a remote location. They’ll
be here in minutes.
She jumps off him and bolts for the door. As she opens it, there are five men rushing down the hall at her. She immediately starts kicking and punching them but they are getting in some shots, as well. She starts doing extremely well and beats the last one. As she turns to go she sees a man in uniform standing less than twenty feet away pointing a gun at her, about to fire. She can see the angle of the gun and tries to move away from it quickly. It is too late. In super slo-mo, the bullet catches her high in the left shoulder and she staggers to the floor. She stands up. The others are getting up behind her and the man in front of her just stares at her. They have her.
CUT TO:
Water is being splashed in her face and it wakes her up. She is chained to the wall by her ankles and wrists and cannot move much, at all. She is wearing nothing but a dirty, colorless cloth dress. Her face is bruised and she is dirty and sweaty. She gives the evil eye. A hand slaps her across the face. The camera cuts back and shows a long room with a table in the middle and her chained against the wall. It is dank and the light is dim. The leader of the group is talking in Spanish (subtitles).
LEADER
This woman is responsible for the death of Hector
Olivera. I want to know everything she knows and
how in the hell she got through our defenses. I must
know who has been tracking us, it is vital to our
survival. Beat her to within an inch of her life. I will
return in a few hours.
He leaves the room and the remaining men look around at each other. They mumble to each other and one of them walks up to her and touches her face. He laughs.
MAN1
She’s not bad, no? Even with the bruises she’s still
better looking than Chuy’s sister, no?
They all look at Chuy and laugh, obnoxiously.
MAN1
What do you say we have some fun before
we beat her? The boss doesn’t have to know.
Victoria’s eyes open wider. She can understand everything they are saying. She is fluent in Spanish.
MAN2
Yes. I haven’t had fun in a while. Yes (nodding).
MAN5 (Chuy)
I don’t think we should. Someone could catch us…
MAN3
Catch us? What are you, stupid? There’s no one here
but us. Are you scared, jito?
They all laugh again.
MAN1
Enough, hold her arms and legs and unlock the chains.
They do as they are told. They hold her and put her on the table. She is waiting for the right moment. Man1 takes off his pants but you can’t see anything because his shirt hangs down low. They are holding her arms and legs. Man5 has decided to have nothing to do with it and stands alone in the corner. Man1 climbs up on the table and crawls over her.
MAN1
I’m going to have fun with you my little girl. And
then I’m going to beat you…
Victoria’s legs are too strong for them. She brings up her knee and slams it into his naked crotch with all her might. You hear a slight crunch and Man1 screams as the momentum sends him flying off the table. They are all in slight shock. She takes advantage of it. She slides her left hand out and reaches across her body and grabs the knife out of the sheath of the man holding her right hand and slashes the throat of the man that was holding her left arm. He grabs his neck and drops to the floor. She brings the knife back across and jams it into the sternum of the guy still holding her right hand and leaves it there. He lets go, grabs the knife in his stomach and falls to the floor. The guy holding her right foot gets up on the table and comes at her fast. She uses her right foot to send him flying over the top of her head to slam into the wall behind her. She slides her body over to the one guy still holding her left foot, stares at him and says, "Hi". He lets go and starts to run. She gets off the table quickly.
VICTORIA
I don’t think so.
She outpaces him and as he reaches the door, she slams her foot into his right leg at a sharp angle and it immediately snaps. He screams and falls to the floor. She turns around and views the scene. All the men are incapacitated and writhing in agony. Man5 stands in the corner, visibly shaking. She walks over to him, looks at him and then slaps him on the head. She speaks to him in Spanish.
VICTORIA
You have a halfway decent heart but you will
have to try harder than this if you want it to be
good. Get out of here, go somewhere safe and
get your life together, understand?
He nods his head sheepishly.
VICTORIA
I’ll come back for you, someday, if you do not.
Do you understand me?
He nods again. She turns and walks away.
MAN5
Gracias, Seniorita.
She pauses, turns her head, nods slightly and then continues out the door. In the hallway she sees her uniform hanging on a hook. She grabs it and throws it over her shoulder. She walks down the hall towards the exit.
FADE TO:
Victoria is cleaned up and carrying a backpack on her back. It is morning and she is walking by the grandest Mayan Temple, Chichen Itza, as it glows in the sunrise. She stops and looks up at it. She takes out her cell phone, flips it open and punches in a number. Simon answers.
VICTORIA
Simon. THRESH 7 is complete.
SIMON
Everything is tied up?
VICTORIA
Yes. No loose ends.
SIMON
Excellent. Did you have any problems?
Victoria pauses a minute.
VICTORIA
None at all. It was a piece of cake. See you in a
couple days.
She hangs up the phone and looks up at the Temple again. She smiles and starts walking.
FADE TO:
(Psychiatric Health Facility - Present)
Victoria’s voice narrates:
VICTORIA
This place is not so bad. I’ve been here almost
thirty days, now, and I have learned to relax a little
bit. It sucks not being able to leave but I made a
promise and I intend to keep it. I have more freedom
than the other people in here because of my connections. Sometimes the other patients get a little irritable because
I don’t have to follow the same rules as everyone else.
I can’t divulge the personal nature of my circumstances
to them, of course. Some of them are interesting. Most of
them are just rich people who basically had some kind of meltdown in their lives that made them unable to function
in normal society. One patient I like is Ralph. He’s quite a character.
It’s dinner time and there only ten people or so in the entire room. The camera shows a man’s dinner as he is eating and slowly pans out to show his face as he talks:
RALPH
And this was the beginning of chaos theory. It all
started with Quantum Physics. There is an idea that
within endless possibilities, are endless realities.
Every choice we make could make our lives go in
completely different directions.
One of the other patients behind him makes a "crazy" circling motion near his temple.
RALPH
Stop that, Steven. For example…
Steven makes a look like, that was weird, how could he see me? Victoria is leaning up against the wall and she smiles a bit. She liked Ralph.
RALPH
Do I change jobs, go on vacation or walk into
a mall and shoot everybody?
Three people raise their hands for the last choice.
RALPH
Yhea, well that why you guys are in here in the first
place and, besides, it was a rhetorical question. Now,
If you follow the timeline of each one of these choices
you would obviously get very different results. There is
also a theory that all possibilities than can happen do
happen. Now this theory…
WILL
Yhea, but what if one of your timelines came across
another one of your timelines?
RALPH
That’s a paradox. That can’t happen in normal space time.
WILL
Well, I saw this one Star Trek episode where…
RALPH
Start Trek? STAR TREK!? Are you kidding me?
You’re getting your scientific research from a fictional
show? What are you, stupid? Try reading a book once
in a while you fool.
He slams his fist down on the table, making everyone jump. Security starts to move toward the table. He starts to digress.
RALPH
I’m…I’m sorry, Will. I skipped my meds today.
I better go take them.
As he gets up and leaves, Steven makes the crazy motion again.
RALPH
Stop it, Steven, don’t be an idiot.
STEVEN
What the hell? How does he do that?
Someone taps him on the shoulder. He turns around. A hand slaps him across the top of his head.
STEVEN
Ow, Victoria! What was that for?
VICTORIA
For being an idiot, now finish your dinner.
Steven sits down and grudgingly eats the rest of his food. Everyone is snickering.
Cut back to a slow close up on Victoria’s eyes as she remembers her first mission.
FADE TO:
(Subtitle: THRESH #1 – The First Mission – Billings, Montana)
(Deep in the forest)
It is early morning and the sun is just starting to rise. It is fall and the trees are all turning. It is crisp, clear and cold. Victoria is not wearing the suit, yet, it is still being designed for her. Her hair is in a ponytail and she is wearing a one piece grey suit that keeps her warm. She is on the ground and has her sniper rifle targeted on a small cabin 100 yards away. You can see her breath in the cold air. As she is aiming, the scene cuts to Simon briefing her on the mission.
CUT TO:
SIMON
We have located the cabin in which the three
men plan their attacks. Our background checks
have shown that two of them have extensive
criminal histories, including assault and battery
and arson. The third one has an extensive
background in chemistry and explosives. One
of them opened his mouth about their plan to
bomb the Sears Towers in Chicago to one of our
operatives. The local police and the Feds will be
all over this when the story breaks so your job is
just to make it a little easier for them to be caught
and then you disappear from the scene like you
were never there. As soon as you are in place and
ready to go the authorities will be contacted and
given their location.
CUT TO:
Victoria opens her phone and calls Simon. He answers.
VICTORIA
Simon, I’m in place and ready to go.
SIMON
Alright, good luck.
She closes her phone and aims the rifle again. She can see two of the men clearly through the main window. They were just reading on the couch. She would have to aim quick to get them both. She takes a deep breath and says, "Nighty night, boys". She fires and hits the first one. The other one barely notices before she shoots him in the chest. They both slump over, sedated. She will have to move fast for the third one. She takes her backpack off and pulls out an automatic weapon. She ducks down and moves in fast. She puts her back up against the cabin next to the back door. Suddenly, a shotgun blast practically blows the door off.
TERRORIST (MARTIN)
You ain’t taking me in, you fuckers!
He is under the impression the authorities were after him. He wouldn’t be expecting to see one lone woman. She might be able to use that. She tries to get a glimpse in the window and he fires another shot. Glass flies everywhere and she ducks down.
VICTORIA
Martin, hold your fire! I’m on your side!
I’m here to help!
MARTIN
Yhea, right, bitch!
She thinks for a minute. She decided to use a relatively common name to throw him off guard.
VICTORIA
Martin, it’s me, Michelle!
There is a pause and then.
MARTIN
Michelle? What are you doing here?!
Are you with them?!
She smiles. She can’t believe her luck.
VICTORIA
Can I come in and talk?!
MARTIN
Okay, but do it slowly. This better not be a trick!
VICTORIA
Okay, I’m coming in.
She stands up and opens the shot up door, ready to move quickly. When she walks in he sees it’s not Michelle. He raises his shotgun and fires. She ducks and rolls in front of the couch. On the ground she reaches around the couch and shoots him in the foot. He screams but still has his shotgun. Before he can recover, she repositions herself, aims, and shoots him in the upper right shoulder. Her orders were to kill no one so she is purposely using non-lethal shots. He drops his shotgun and falls to the floor. He starts to crawl towards the shotgun. She quickly rolls over to him and pins him down. She pulls out a syringe and injects it into his neck. He quivers for a minute and then goes limp. She grabs the shotgun and puts in on the kitchen table. She then injects the other two and proceeds to tie them all together, in chairs. They will be out for hours. She quickly checks the cabin and finds tons of guns and explosives. She doesn’t have time to do anything about them. She hears sirens in the distance and bolts out the door. She looks up and sees a helicopter in the distance. She sprints back in the direction from which she came. She smiles as she runs. She jumps and does some gymnastic flips off the branches of the trees as she goes. She whoops a couple times.
FADE TO:
Victoria is in Simon’s office and he throws the day’s paper on his desk, towards her.
SIMON
They were apprehended without incident and
all of their plans and schematics were found.
They will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of
the law. There seems to be a rumor going around
that the police had a little inside help on this one.
The reporters are all speculating and questioning
but the police won’t respond to them.
VICTORIA
Hmm, how strange. Maybe it was the Lone Ranger.
SIMON
Indeed, that’s exactly who it was. Good job, kid.
I knew you could do it.
Victoria smiles.
FADE TO
The camera fades in and zooms out from Victoria’s eyes, back in the mental
facility. She notices two guys talking near her and she listens to their
conversation.
RITCH
She was something else, I’m telling ya. Her name
was Mary and the sex was unbelievable but the hard
part was keeping her away from my wife, you know.
She showed me this position you wouldn’t believe,
something out of the Kama Sutra or something. It was
wild. Yhea, you know, but she had this problem with
her teeth. By which I mean she had no teeth. I don’t
know what the deal was there and I never asked. But
Susan was pretty amazing.
JONATHON
Who’s Susan?
RITCH
Susan? Susan who?
JONATHON
You said Susan, is that your wife?
RITCH
My wife? I ain’t never getting’ married, man.
JONATHON
You said you were cheating on her with Mary.
RITCH
Mary? Who the hell is Mary? Are you messing
with me again? Why do I even talk to you?
JONATHON
You said you had sex with some woman named
Mary who had no teeth!
RITCH
No teeth? Jeez, give me a little credit, I think I can
do better than that. Toothless Mary? Ha, ha, that’s
kinda funny.
Jonathon buries his head in his hands and sighs in frustration.
RITCH
Hey, you okay buddy? Did you take your meds? I
understand, bro, I understand (consoling).
Victoria smiles and then leaves the rec room.
VICTORIA
Goodnight, guys.
They all say goodnight. The camera follows her to her room. She turns out the light and closes the door.
CUT TO:
It is morning and Aaron and Tai are visiting Victoria in the facility. There are no barriers between them. They are in the rec room on a visitation day.
AARON
So, how are you feeling?
VICTORIA
Good. I’ve had some time to think and relax a bit.
I guess I was a little stressed out. The patients and
the doctors are all nice and I have things to keep
busy with.
AARON
Great, I’m glad. You have been sorely missed by
both of us.
He looks down at Tai. Victoria cups Tai’s chin with her hand.
VICTORIA
Mommy loves you very much, Tai. You know that,
right?
He looks a little uncertain but then smiles and says, "Yes". She smiles.
VICTORIA
I’ll be home soon, you two. And we’ll have tons
of fun, like before, okay?
"Okay" they both say together. They all giggle. Victoria starts tickling Tai and they all laugh.
Jonathon walks into the rec hall and approaches Ritch.
RITCH
Johnny! What’s up?
JONATHON
Hey. Have you talked to the newbie, yet?
RITCH
Oh, the hot blonde in 2G?
JONATHON
That’s Carol. She’s been here for over a year.
RITCH
No, I think you mean Nancy.
JONATHON
I’m referring to Victoria.
RITCH
Victoria? Who’s that?
JONATHON
Look over my shoulder at two o’clock.
Ritch looks the opposite way.
JONATHON
Your other two o’clock, Ritch. You’re looking at
ten o’clock.
RITCH
Oh, sorry, I was in the army, we only used military time.
JONATHON
That doesn’t affect the clock, you idiot.
RITCH
Well, sure it does if you…
JONATHON
Just look behind me slightly to your right!
RITCH
Oh, yhea, I’ve seen her. I think she’s been here about a year.
JONATHON
That’s Carol. Victoria has been here a month.
RITCH
Who’s Victoria?
JONATHON
The woman behind me! (Face red).
RITCH
Oh, you mean Nancy.
JONATHON
Okay, never mind, I’m done for the day. Just
remember to get that stuff from Jackson.
He walks away in frustration.
RITCH
Sure, no problem.
He waits until Jonathon is gone.
RITCH
What stuff? And who the hell is Jackson?
CUT TO:
Victoria is talking to one of the head doctors in a required thirty minute session.
ANDY
Are you still having nightmares about your work?
VICTORIA
Not nearly as much. I guess I really did need some
time off.
ANDY
We left off last time with some of your missions that
seemed to have a strong effect on you. You said that
#11 was one you didn’t like to talk about. Maybe we
should just go ahead and get it out of the way.
Victoria looks at him and sighs.
ANDY
Everything is confidential, Victoria. I am bound by law.
VICTORIA
Alright. Number eleven was a big mission. It was political
and a lot was riding on it for my bosses and the world in
general. I was sent to Switzerland to stop an assassination.
As Victoria narrates, the camera dissolves to her trekking through the Alps.
VICTORIA (Narration)
Everything was going as planned but somehow he found out
that I was there to stop him. My reputation had preceded me
and he wanted no part of it. He fled on foot and I chased after
him. He had to be brought to justice for he had killed before
and we had proof.
Victoria spots the assassin and immediately readies her sniper rifle. He is a good forty yards in front of her. He seemed to be loading a weapon of some kind. When he finally stood still for a second, she took her shot. She missed. Right as she fired, he moved.
VICTORIA
Shit!
He felt the wind of the shot whiz by his ear and he immediately bolted higher up the mountain.
VICTORIA (Narration)
This guy was definitely in shape. He just kept going
further up the mountain, tirelessly. I was getting tired
but I had to keep going. I started running as hard as I
could.
Victoria sprints through the knee deep snow. She finds a good spot to snipe from and decides to settle in for a minute. Maybe she can spot him through the trees. She aims her weapon and the camera sees what she sees through the scope. She searches the tree line and the direction in which he ran. She comes back again, slowly. Then, she spots something. It suddenly dawns on her that she is looking directly down the barrel of a rifle. They both fire at the same time. As she does so, his shot hits her in the upper left shoulder. She goes down, holding her wound.
VICTORIA
Dammit, dammit. I think I got him.
She slowly peaks over the snow dune. There is no movement. Then she spots a bit of movement. He seems to be flailing a bit. She did get him.
VICTORIA
Hope it’s not a trap.
She gets up, ducks down and covers the distance between them. When she gets to where he was, he’s gone. She looks around frantically. Suddenly, a foot comes out of nowhere and kicks her in the face. She staggers but doesn’t fall down. She gets a look at him. He is Asian and posed ready to fight. He has been shot in the shoulder, as well. He attacks her again. She steps in, grabs his leg when he kicks, holds it and punches him right where he was shot. He staggers back, holding his wound. They continue to fight and it takes them to the edge of a cliff. She kicks him and he staggers toward the edge. He falls and she catches him with one hand. He pulls out a knife and moves toward her arm. She is about to let go but the small tree she is holding onto rips out of the ground and they both go tumbling over the cliff. It is a thirty foot drop to jagged rocks and they both land hard. They both stand up, scratched up and bleeding. He pulls out a Samurai sword from the sheath on his belt. She smiles and pulls out hers from behind her back. They fight for a while and she finally maneuvers behind him and puts her sword through his back. He looks down in horror as it comes through his stomach. He falls to his knees. She pushes him off her sword with her foot. She staggers and walks ten feet and then collapses.
VICTORIA (Narration)
That mission almost killed me. I almost froze to
death. It took me a week to get back to my base.
I’ve never come that close to death. I started
hallucinating but I finally made it.
She looks at Andy.
ANDY
Wow, that’s an incredible story. That must have
scared you a little.
VICTORIA
A little.
ANDY
You’ve really made amazing progress, Victoria.
To be able to open up about these incredible things
that you had to keep inside for so long is a good thing.
I’m going to recommend that you are fit to leave the
facility in a week or so.
VICTORIA
Thank you. I think maybe you’re right. I miss my life.
I need to get back to it.
ANDY
You may want to consider a less stressful occupation in
the future.
VICTORIA
I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks, doc.
FADE TO:
Jonathon is talking to Victoria about his friend Ritch just before he introduces them.
JONATHON
So, he’s an interesting guy but there are a couple
things to keep in mind. He has a rare form of severe
Attention Deficit Disorder coupled with short term
memory loss. He forgets things sometimes. Oh, here
he is now.
RITCH
Willie! What’s shakin’?
JONATHON
It’s Jonathon.
RITCH
Oh, I know, I was just messing with you. So,
this is Carol, huh?
JONATHON
It’s Victoria.
RITCH
Right, that’s what I meant. So, what are you in for?
VICTORIA
Oh, this and that.
RITCH
Ha! I like her, already. Me too, some of this, some
of that, here and there, now and then and so on.
He laughs and wipes his nose with the back of his hand.
RITCH
Did Bill tell you about my A.D.D? Yhea, it’s a helluva
thing, can’t remember nothin’. But, I tell you, Nancy, it
beats the alternative.
Jonathon rolls his eyes and Victoria smiles. These guys were a little nuts but she could defend herself so she wasn’t too worried. At least it passed the time.
RITCH
Most of it is because of the metal plate in my head. I was
stationed out of Da Nang when we got hit by mortar fire.
I was in a coma for a year. When I finally woke up I…
JONATHON
Ritch?
RITCH
What? (Ashamed) Oh, uh…I’m also a pathological liar.
Victoria raises her eyebrows and tries not to laugh.
RITCH
Oh, by the way, I got that stuff from Johnson.
JONATHON
You mean Jackson.
RITCH
No, it was Johnson. You know, tall, skinny white guy.
JONATHON
No. Jackson is a little black guy.
RITCH
Who cares? I’m talking about Johnson.
JONATHON
Jackson is the person you were supposed to get
the supplies from!
RITCH
Supplies? All he gave me was a bag of something.
JONATHON
What was it? Was it drugs?
RITCH
I don’t know, I was holding it for you.
JONATHON
Dammit, Ritch, you retarded no memory having
fuckstick! Sorry, that was out of line. So, did this
guy charge you for it?
RITCH
No, he said you could pay him later. After hours,
if you know what I mean. I think he wants to have
sex with you.
Jonathon hits him on the shoulder.
RITCH
What? I thought that was normal.
JONATHON
All I wanted was some new bed linen, you moron.
Jonathon lowers his head, takes off his glasses and pinches his nose. He makes a frustrated noise. He looks over at Victoria.
JONATHON
Umm, I’m sorry, we need to take care of a situation.
See you around.
RITCH
Seeya, Gladys.
Victoria is holding the back of her hand to her mouth to keep from laughing. The two of them argue as they walk away.
FADE TO:
(Dream sequence)
Victoria is standing in her favorite spot in a secluded location, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Everything is peaceful and there is a slight breeze flowing through her hair. She is wearing a white, flowing gown and she stares peacefully into the west as the sun starts its decent. Suddenly, the scene shifts violently and you see her tied up against a tree, all in black. Her head hangs limply and then something hits her in the face. The scene quickly switches back to her staring at the horizon but now she looks worried. Then we see her as THRESH but much more evil looking. She lets out a huge shriek. She has huge teeth that are dripping blood. Cut back to her in white. Now she looks pained. Cut back to THRESH. Something hits her hard and she falls to the ground. Then, from inside a coffin, you see the lid slam closed and there is nothing but darkness.
CUT TO:
Victoria wakes and sits up with a start. She gasps out loud and clutches her chest. She is sweating and her eyes are wide open. She looks around, breathes heavily and starts to calm down. She is still in the psychiatric facility and the sun has come up. It is morning and today is the day she leaves for good.
VICTORIA
I gotta get the hell out of here.
CUT TO:
(Psychiatric Facility, Rec Room)
Victoria is talking to Ralph and saying goodbye to everyone.
RALPH
Goodbye, dear heart. Always remember to follow
the way of the stars for they shall light the way.
VICTORIA
Aww, Ralph, that’s beautiful, thank you.
He nods.
Ritch and Jonathon are next. She says goodbye to Jonathon and then approaches Ritch.
RITCH
It’s been real, Muriel.
Victoria laughs out loud.
VICTORIA
Muriel! Muriel? Oh, man, you’re trying to hard.
RITCH
What do you mean?
VICTORIA
(Whispering) I know you’re memory is better than
you pretend.
He looks at her for a few seconds and starts to laugh.
RITCH
Yhea. Ironically, telling you I was a pathological liar
was the only thing I ever said that was true.
VICTORIA
You must like it here.
RITCH
(Shrugs) Ehh…it beats the streets.
VICTORIA
Yes, it does. Bye, Ritch, good luck.
RITCH
You to, Gladys.
She eyeballs him.
RITCH
Victoria.
They smile and walk in opposite directions. Victoria sees Aaron and Tai and goes to them. They all smile and hug and then walk out of the facility together.
FADE TO:
(O H.Q.)
Victoria, Simon and Eric are in Simon’s office, talking.
SIMON
So, how are you feeling?
Victoria smiles and sighs.
VICTORIA
Pretty good, actually. I really needed the rest.
The doctors got me to talk out a lot of my anger
from my early life and some of the dark stuff I
dealt with on the missions.
SIMON
That’s great. You’re glowing, you seem really
happy.
VICTORIA
I just feel like I’m lucky to have gotten through
so much.
There is a slightly awkward pause and then from behind her comes:
ERIC
So, you think you’re ready for action?
Victoria turns to look at him.
VICTORIA
Have you ever known me not to be?
They both smile. He walks over to her and puts out his hand. She shakes it and says:
VICTORIA
No hard feelings?
ERIC
None.
SIMON
Alright, this is going well. Victoria, we’ve got
a bit of a pressing situation, here. I hate to push
you but if you think you’re ready then we need
to move fast.
VICTORIA
I’ve been trapped behind a maze of walls for three
months, Simon. I’ve never been more eager to stretch
my legs.
SIMON
Excellent. Here’s the situation. We’ve got a high
ranking U.N. diplomat who holds a strong position
but a very uncommon sentiment as far as world order
goes. The problem is that his sentiment is something
that the most advanced countries in the world all agree
upon. We need him in the U.N. to continue his progress.
He has become a danger to many countries who don’t
share the same ideals of freedom that we do. Therefore,
he has been targeted for assassination. We know when
and where. We need you out there to keep it from
happening. He must be kept alive at all costs.
VICTORIA
I understand. When and where?
SIMON
Go with Eric, he will give you the details and you
can be on your way. Good luck.
VICTORIA
Don’t need it, but thanks.
Simon smiles as Eric and Victoria leave the room.
FADE TO:
Victoria is at an extravagant ball, keeping a close eye on the high ranking diplomat. She is dressed to the nines and is mingling without ever losing sight of the U.N. diplomat. As she is mingling she notices a redhead across the room staring at her. It sends a chill up her spine. As soon as she stares back, the redhead turns around and walks away. She looked very familiar but she couldn’t quite place her. She continues to mingle and after a few minutes, someone taps her shoulder. She turns around and it is the redhead.
MICHELLE
Hi, Victoria, what are you doing here?
It dawns on Victoria that it is Michelle, the operative she went on a mission with but she has changed her hair color and it is done up.
VICTORIA
Michelle? I thought you were on assignment.
MICHELLE
I am. This is it. I’m keeping an eye on someone.
VICTORIA
The U.N. diplomat?
Michelle nods. Victoria excuses herself and Michelle’s eyes follow her, suspiciously. Victoria goes outside and calls Simon.
VICTORIA
Simon, Michelle is here at the ball with me.
Why didn’t you tell me she was on the same
assignment as me?
SIMON
Michelle? That can’t be. She’s not even supposed
to be in that part of the world.
VICTORIA
Simon, I’m telling you, it’s her. I talked to her and she
said that she was here to keep an eye on the diplomat.
SIMON
This is strange. Victoria, keep an eye on her, something
about this doesn’t feel right. I’ll make some calls.
VICTORIA
Okay. I’ll get back to you.
She closes her phone, turns around and almost runs into Michelle.
MICHELLE
Was that Simon?
VICTORIA
Yes.
MICHELLE
Was there a mix up?
VICTORIA
No, I was just clarifying some Intel with him.
MICHELLE
I guess at least one of us should be watching the
diplomat.
VICTORIA
Yes, excuse me.
MICHELLE
Sure.
Victoria brushes past Michelle and goes back into the house. She starts to feel spooked and pressed for time. She sees Michelle come back inside and slowly walk up the stairs to the second floor and disappear. That was odd. It seemed as though the second floor was off limits. No one else had gone up there. She decides to follow Michelle. When she gets to the second landing she checks the bedroom doors. All of them are locked, except one. She slowly walks in. The lights are out and a window is open. The curtains flap in the cool breeze. She looks out the window to the ground below. There are no footprints in the thin layer of snow on the ground. She hears a noise on the roof and looks up. She cannot see anything. She climbs out the window and using footholds in the brick and mortar she climbs to the roof. She walks silent and cautiously. She cannot see anyone. She slowly peaks around the huge chimney and spots Michelle. She is putting on a suit of some kind. Victoria ducks back behind the chimney and into the shadows.
CUT TO:
Michelle has finished suiting up and is checking her weapons. She is getting ready to kill the U.N. diplomat. Suddenly, from behind her:
THRESH
So, what’s with the dye job, Michelle?
VEX
The dye job was the blonde. This is my real hair
color. And the name is VEX.
THRESH
Oooo, very nice. Is this the part where you tell me
about your plans for world domination?
VEX
Too complicated. I keep my goals attainable. Like kickin’
your ass, for one. Killing the diplomat, for another.
THRESH
A double agent and a super villain! You’re a busy little
bee, aren’t you? Why did you go back to your original
hair color? I thought blondes had more fun.
